15

it was fe's birthday celebrations on saturday so we all met up at '15' jamie oliver's 'good-doer' restaurant where he takes the simple, deprived teenagers off the streets and tries to get them to enjoy cooking for a living.
we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated but we enjoyed a chat and drink in the little bar area.
for a starter we chose antipasto which was pretty good: olives, cheeses, chargrilled artichokes, the usual mediteranian fare.
for the main i chose mushroom gnocchi which was absolutely beautiful, soft and tasty.
desert i shared with ed: creme brule with ice-cream mmmm lovely and creamy.
when pushed to give '15' a score out of 10 i gave it 8, the food was good the atmosphere relaxed; music not too loud and decore low-key.
the only things that i marked it down on was the cost of the wine (which boosted our total bill 3 fold) and the fact that there was no toilet paper in the cubicle i went to...shame on you jamie but bravo for an interesting concept and for it being open for so long after the initial flury of publicity so many years ago.

my first week

well i have been temping for 1 week, it is great to be back working again, earning some money, meeting new people, using my brain again.

i am working in victoria just down the road from new scotland yard so i am in safe hands.

it has snowed 3 times this week, not heavy or enough to settle but enough for it not to be annoying rain and soft enough to melt on the skin.

my new addiciton is rasberries, i buy a little packet of rasberries every morning from the market and nibble on them all morning...the freshness and goodness of them remind me of melbourne....i miss queen victoria markets.

gosh it has been ages since i have posted anything up on my blog, i think it is because it takes so long to download images i tend not to bother but this weekend i might try to add a few pictures of our first 4 weeks in london.

i am still unemployed but have now joined 2 agencies and another on monday, been for one interview and maybe have another on wednesday. in the mean time i am checking the papers everyday, swimming and seeing films; yesterday i saw 'mrs henderson presents' which i found enjoyable to watch but instantly forgetable...judy dench was brilliant as usual.

i have made 2 new toys which i will promise to put images on this blog, they have turned out really well and i have found my way around ed's mum's sewing machine (she has kindly given it to me!) so the plan is to make about 10 and check out what sort of stores would stock them and hopefully try and sell them.

i have had 2 rejections from illustration agencies which got me a little down but i know my work is good so i will keep on trying and bettering my folio.

going to karaoke on sunday for ed's brother's 30th birthday celebrations at 'karaoke box' in soho...haven't thought of what song i'd like to sing but something with a bit of guts so i can sing out my dissapointment at not doing much in the first 4 weeks back.

well i have to go as i'm meeting ed in town to see 'walk the line' in my new cool leather boots ... yes my calves actually fit in a pair!!!
