some great news

i forgot to mention about a month ago when we went to '15' for fe's birthday, both fe and simon declared that they got engaged the day before in paris! after 9 years they are getting married and getting married in brazil! so we have a fantastic holiday to look forward to and see our great friends get married. hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray!
on that night we spent many hours placing this poor little battery operated rabbit in different positions (reduced from £20 to £2 in the matter of minutes from a little man selling everything that glowed) eventually he was reduced to his skin as someone had taken his manky fur off in a drunken frenzy.

a town called plaistow

this is the little road in plaistow, east london where we are staying until we find a flat in walthamstow. it looks all sunny doesn't it? well most days you will find it grey and dull, lined with cars and men working on their motor bikes or unloading numerous boxes of who knows what into their houses.

P.S I Love You - Exhibition

'P.S I Love You' opening was last night. It was an interesting group of artists, designers, performance artists and musicians.

I put up a print of an image I had done a while ago as I didn't have much notice, but I think it looked good, and it sold! Paul bought it for a nice little sum: A bargain!

Peter was one of the organisers and created this wonderful oversized finger puppet...too cool for school!

The interesting crowd enjoyed giraffe women, half-naked men in shopping bags and a recorder player, if you seem a little confused by this, so were we all BUT IT WAS A LOT OF FUN. THANK YOU PETER FOR INVITING ME XX

another exhibition

i just haven't had time to put up photos but today i am going to try and catch up.
we went to the rachael whiteread exhibition at the tate modern about a month ago. an amazing exhibition that dwarfs everyone that enters the space. such a huge space as the turbine hall will no doubt make an impact on anyone that utilises the space to its potential and those that visit it. i can't wait to see what will be on display next.

pet peeve 4

let me set the scene for you:
sitting on the tube on a sunday morning about 11:30, the sun is out and everyone is peaceful in their acknowledgement that life is sometimes great in london......when on jumps a MANIAC! looking like a blobby kevin bacon from 'footloose' with a hendrix t-shirt on: he sits there playing air drums! yeah air drums then clapping his hands down on his thighs supposedly in time to the music, but believe me it wasn't. i really wanted to laugh, but couldn't as this person who is obviously doing something sociopathic could turn out to be a homicidal MANIAC. thankfully the blobby kevin bacon with the hendrix t-shirt got off but not after transforming my morning into one of bewilderment at some peoples inhabitions.
sooo the peeve is: don't inflict your lack of rhythm and musical taste on those that don't ask for it.

2 months

another week almost over and only 2 more weeks left at my temp job. hopefully i will have another temp job to go to the following week.

wednesday was 2 months in london...2 months! i can't believe it, it feels like years. i don't know if that is a good thing that it feels like years or a bad thing? either way we are here in london and we are going to enjoy it while we are here, so monday i booked tickets to see 'lady in black' it is supposed to be very scary.

i am also going to be in a group exhibition in soho, i am going to hang a print of one of my illustrations, the venue is taking 40% of the sale price so i feel like either hiking it up or selling it for £1 so they only get 40p leaving me at a loss but 'sticking it to them'.

pet peeve 3

sitting on the tube this morning thankfull for a seat, i was sitting there looking into space as my eyes were just too tired to continue reading 'jude the obscure' (v.good by-the-way) i noticed a man reading the paper (quality one it was as well 'the sun' cough, cough) elbows placed firmly on both arm rests legs spread out confirming his place on the very crowded tube carriage. the poor girl on one side of him was so squished she actually got up and stood down the other end of the carriage....why do men in particular think they need to comand so much space - LEGS TOGETHER, ELBOWS IN BOYS!

quote of the week

quote of the week by mark 'chopper' read; legendary australian criminal, on his new venture: a gangsta rap album:

"Why shouldn't I? I like trying different things. It's good, I think. I'm not planning to tour with it, though. I'm not a musician's bumhole."

ha ha ha ha what poetic bliss this album will be.

pet peeves 1 and 2...more to come

number 1: don't tell me to smile if i am walking down the street...sometimes the sun might be in my eyes, i might be cold, i am thinking about something serious or it might be that my face naturally falls that way...so......homeless person on the street when you told me to smile on sunday afternoon....i was squinting as the sun was in my eyes!!!!

number 2: when you are waiting for a film to start and there are plenty of seats and 2 people decide to sit right in front of you so that you can't read the subtitles properly.

origami

it is amazing what the human brain can think of in times of desperation.

last weekend after a day and night of drinking with friends i was feeling a little worse for ware, feeling the motion of the tube i knew i had to get off. in my minutes of desperation i knew i had to act fast so asked ed if he had some paper and in seconds i had folded a paper cup to 'keep london beautiful'.

thank you mrs mckutchen my first year teacher for teaching me origami; who would have known it would come in handy.
